Outlook Search / Find feature problem

When using the find feature e.g. in inbox to look for mail
messages Outlook lists the oldest messages first before
arriving at the newest messages.

They are listed in date order, however, with large numbers
of messages saved in the various folders this can be
rather time consuming.

Does anybody have an idea as to how this problem can be
resolved.
