Depends on what you want to do, Bill. If you just want an email client and
newsgroup reader, Outlook Express is fine, and is part of Internet Explorer,
so you already have it. If you want data management with all kinds of bells
and whistles that the average home user will never use, Outlook is your
program. I use them both because Outlook came with the Office suite. I use
Outlook Express for my personal email (family and close friends, people I
know), and of course for reading newsgroups. I use Outlook for my "other
email accounts". Be advised that Outlook has no native newsgroup reader
(when you call up newsgroups in Outlook, it will open the Outlook express
newsgroup reader). Outlook is more oriented to business users with a lot of
data and contacts to manage.
