Outlook won't delete item

I have been having a problem with my Outlook not deleting
an item that is in my outbox that I am trying to delete.
I receive a notice that states 'The messaging interface
has returned an unknown error. If problem persists
restart outlook'. I have restarted Outlook and it still
doesn't delete my item. I have even tried the
Autoarchive to try and get rid of it that way with no
success. Help! I'm sick of seeing this item in my
outbox. Any suggestions?

Create a new .pst file - make it your default. close and reopen Outlook.
Delete the file from the outbox.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
