Outlook won't open in normal or safe mode

Outlook XP, Win XP Pro

Mapped to a network drive via a dial-up connection, rec'd
message when closing Outlook re errors with the path to
that drive and data could be lost. Tried to reopen
Outlook to check that drive and it hung. Tried again---
error message suggested opening in Safe Mode. Hung again.
Third try--err msg said to run Detect and Repair. It
needed Office XP CD for that. OK, put CD in, those files
successfully installed. Nothing happened after.
Detect/Repair did not run. Still can't open Outlook.

Any help greatly appreciated.

P.S. Saw MS KB article 319517 re Outlook 2002 with Win
2000 term server--entries put in Reg, causing loop after
launch failure. Could this be problem? Thanks again.

Carol
