The problem started with outlook not sending. It has escalated to outlook
being all but entirely locked up. long waits between actions, and finally no
action at all. reboot, and start all over again. Any help?

You'll need to provide more details before anyone can try to help. We can't
see what you're seeing so your descriptions will have to be very precise.

Start with your version of Outlook, type of mail account, and detail any
error messages in their entirety. Including your OS may be helpful as well.

My OS is Microsoft Windows XP. I am using Outlook 2003. I don't know the
type of mail account. (I don't know what that means.) I have not received
any error messages. The send function simply "stalled" you might say. It
never recovers. After closing Outlook and re-opening it, the responses to
any keystroke--clicking on an email that I want to read--is slowed to the
point that it takes upwards of 1 minute to open the email--if at all. After
another key stroke or so, Outlook locks up. Hope this helps in defining the
problem. Thanks for your response.

Hi, Ben,
Actually, rebooting doesn't resolve the problem; it just gives me a new
opportunity to hit a few key strokes before lock-up sets in again. I did try
opening Outlook in safe mode. Still, the small icon in the lower right
corning is showing "sending 1 of 1". In the Sent box, however, nothing has
gone out since the onset of the problem three days ago. I am using McAfee
antivirus software. Thanks.
