Outlook XP - Mails do not leave outbox even though they are sent

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help as this is really bugging me
now.

I am using a dial up connection to connect to the
internet, i send and receive mail using outlook xp on my
laptop. my mail goes through the exchange server in my
company office.

since yesterday i have been having trouble sending mails,
i will do a send receive and my mail will come in ok but
it will time out when sending, the mails are still in my
outbox so i think they haven't gone, so i do a send
recieve again with the same result, but i get a call from
the person i'm trying to send the mail to saying they have
recieved it multiple times. the messages are always still
sat in the outbox.

any help on this issue would be very appreciated, you can
