Outlook 2003 stopped retrieveing email from mt pop3 msn
account on Monday Jan. 12--it had been working fine no
other changes or prorgam additions have been made to my
machine which is running Windows XP Media Center and
broad band cable access.
After clicking send and receive the old "This way to the
internet...window pops up asking for my password which is
already entered clicking ok the window keeeps popping up,
will not go away until you hit cancel--at which time the
following error appears
!Task MSN REceiving' reported error (0x800ccc18): "Your e-
mail server rejected your login with Secure Password
Authentication. Veryify your account properties. Under
tools, click email accounts.'
I have done the following--none of which has helped:
1. Checked with MSN to see if there is a server problem--
there isn't and the web based email serve accepts my
password and allows web access to my eamil.
2. Attempted to uncheck the Secure Password
Autentication box--this is the normal setting and the
setting that works for my other(rr.com) pop3 account
which is working fine. This box will not stay
unchecked. I clear the check mark hit finish retun to
look at account properties and it is rechecked.
3. Removed and reinstalled Office 2003 including Outlook
2003
4. Did a system restore taking the computer back 48
hours before the problem occurred
5. Did several full system scans Norton Antivirus to
detect any threats--there were none.
6. Ran spyware cleaner
Please help.....
