Over-eager offers

K

Kim Bastin

I'm running the 2002 versions of the MS Office products under Windows
ME.

Having a lengthy document to type in French, the other day I added
French to my languages in the Control Panel Keyboard applet in order
to use a French keyboard layout. Ever since then, Microsoft Word,
Excel, and I think PowerPoint too have been popping up dialog boxes at
me offering to install various French-related stuff - autocorrect
files, spellchecking, I don't know what else. I'm having none of it,
and click no every time, but Office XP just won't take a hint. I'm not
even typing my French in a Microsoft product!

Is there any way to permanently get rid of these persistent and
over-eager offers to do things I don't want done? They're almost worse
than telemarketers ;)

(Apart, that is, from giving up, digging out my Office CDs and letting
it install the stuff?)

Thanks
Kim Bastin

Why not just ininstall the French keyboard and use the US International
keyboard? It will give you all of the accented characters and cedille, etc.
without having to change the keyboard to French.
