How do I overwrite text in PP, just like in Word when one hits the
"insert" key?

AFAIK, you can't, the only way is to select the text you want to replace,
and start typing.

OK, that's good to know.
How ridiculous though that MS didn't think of it or implement it......

This feature is available in the 2007 beta version if your interested.
Do we know when the 2007 final version will be coming out?
I'm not sure I want to bother w/ potential issues with beta software ion
general at this time.....

I believe it's supposed to be available to "regular" (that is,
non-enterprise) users early next year.

Ah, here.
http://www.computerworld.com/action...ewArticleBasic&articleId=9002372&pageNumber=2
says, "Microsoft currently plans to release Vista to corporate volume
customers in November and make it generally available to consumers and small
businesses in January, at the same time as Office 2007."

However, I must be doing something wrong, because I can't get the overtype
ability to work in PPT 2007, either. Until someone can confirm one way or
the other, you might want to do the "test drive" so you can try it yourself
(this is much less painful than actually installing a beta -- it just runs
online over a Citrix server) at

Right.
I noticed that u have to install some ap from MS to run the Citrix
server. That's not too invasive U hope..?
Privacy and hard drive resources....

Yeah, it's a Citrix browser plug-in. I didn't notice any impact here, but I
don't know a lot about what I'd even be looking for, either. I haven't
noticed it phoning home or anything like that.
