Packing a number with zeros

Hi guys,
A quick question (I hope).
I've got a field which have numbers in them which I need to pack to
four-digits with preceding zeros. To enable this I've changed the data type
to text but I can't think how to achieve it.
For example:
12 should read 0012
7 should read 0007
103 should read 0103
Can you help with this?
