Page Numbering in a booklet

I'm creating approx. 300 bid sheets for an auction, each page should be 5.5 x
8.5 portrait, but needs to print 2 per page onto 8.5 x 11 (landscape). Then
we cut the paper in half.
I used the catalog merge in Pulisher 2003 with a publication that's setup as
a booklet. All's well when looking at the publication on screen, but when
printing, Publisher sees my doc as a booklet, so it prints pages 1, 300 on
the first sheet, then 2, 299 etc. Any way to get the merging I need to create
two 5.5 x 8.5 forms printed on one 8.5 x 11 page, and have it print 1,2 on
first page, 3,4 or next etc?

In page setup, custom, landscape, input 5.5 by 8.5, this will print two copies
per sheet. Don't use the catalog merge, this is a simple mail merge procedure.

Mary -

Thanks for the suggestion. When I do that, I have two copies of the same
page on each sheet of paper. My goal is to have page 1 print on the left half
of sheet 1, and page 2 printed on the right half of the same sheet. In other
words, exact same output as when you do a booklet, but printing the pages in
numerical order, rather than in booklet-friendly order. Any other ideas?

Then use the suggestion Don gave to you, use two publications. You could cut the
sheets apart first, setup your printer for a custom size... This works for me.

Thanks. I also found another solution based on an earlier post. My printer
will do 2-up printing, so I can set the doc up as 8.5 x 11 portrait, and the
printer to 8.5 x 11 landscape. I "grossed up" the font sizes etc, in the doc,
then let the printer do the work.
