Page numbers

I want to know how to format page numbers on long
documents to skip the first few pages which are usually
index pages and start on the 3rd or 4th page.

Page numbering in Word is a nightmare! I've been working
all day to try to write a process up for my users and I
can't have it work consistently even in 2003 v11.0. Just
when I think I have it, things renumber.
In page numbering hell

Hi, PatM. I've seen a few of your posts... I'm in the same city as you!
If you'd like to email it to me at garfield-n-odie at charter dot net,
I'll be glad to take a look at it.

Insert a section break at the end of the last page that
you don't want a page number. go to the footer/header of
the first page that you want a page number. ON your
header/footer toolbar select the one that changes it
from 'same as previous' so that it doesn't say anything.
Then insert your page number, format the page number to
start at 1.
