Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) know this should be easy but I can't find information on how to take numbers off a page. I put them on in "insert"

Have you checked Word Help on the topic: Add or remove page numbers?

BTW: For your benefit please do not submit your questions as a REPLY to
another post... Especially one which is nearly 2 years old. Submit as a New
Question & be sure to include update specs on both Office & OS X.

I did check Word Help. I found nothing. I searched for "remove page numbers" I would appreciate any help you could give me. Microsoft tech support told me to use this forum. That it's great.

Oops
I thought I'd asked my (first) question under "seaarch word forum"
"ask a new question"

Please direct me to the correct place to ask a question. And I should put in the version of Office that i'm using (2008)?
And my new iMac's operating system?
Yes?
Thanks!

Hello again;

It appears that you may be the unwitting victim of a gremlin or two :) See
insertions below ‹ perhaps we can exorcise them. As for the page numbers:

Page numbers are inserted as fields in the Headers and/or Footers. To remove
them go to View> Header and Footer, select & delete whichever field you
don't want. Unless you have Sections you only have to make the one deletion
- the page number will be deleted from the H/F of each page.

You were most likely deceived here because of hoe the Apple UI guidelines
'suggest' that the Help menu be constructed. If you opened the Help menu in
Word & typed your search terms directly into the Search field there you
weren't actually using Word Help :-\ That's a Spotlight Search field that
searches your Mac OS X Help, which would explain why you didn't find what
you were looking for. In the future, when you go to the Help menu be sure to
next select Word Help... You'll see quite a difference.

On closer examination I believe you did do the right thing. Your post simply
resurrected the defunct thread because of the identical content in the
subject field. My apology for not realizing that earlier. I wondered how you
could have found the old thread but not have seen the reply.

Again, it appears you've done fine with your posting. It is helpful if you
provide exact update levels of your Office & OS X installations any time you
post a question, though. Many issues can involve version-specific variables,
so the sooner your configuration is identified the sooner you'll get a
solution. The Office info can most easily be found in the program's
[application name]> About [application name] menu. Similarly, the OS X info
is in the Apple> About This Mac menu.

Hey - Bob Jones
Your explanations were great! I'm using them successfully and each of your answers give me not only answers, but understanding. Thank you!

Here's another problem I'm having.
I've scanned a document successfully. It's on my desktop.
Now I want to get it into Word so I can edit the text. However, it's gibberish when I copy and paste it into Word. I've tried other ways to do it, but I can't get it done. Help!
