Password Protecting a Presentation

I would like to password protect a PowerPoint
presentation. I know I can make it read-only in
Properties, but I want to have it ask you to put in a
password for those who want to go in and edit the
presentation. I know in Word you can go to File, Save As
and assign a password, allowing those who don't know the
password to at least have read-only rights. How can I do
this in PPT? Thank you for your help.

They ask us for the version before getting into the
newsgroup, so I assumed you knew which one of the four I
was referring to. It is PowerPoint 2000. Thank you.

Hi Steph,

If you are using PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 you can use the
password feature to allow people to open the presentation but not make
changes to it (unless they have the password). The resulting presentation
cannot be opened at all in PPT 2000 and earlier since they don't know
anything about passwords.

Additionally, in PowerPoint 2003, you can use the new Permissions feature
to provide some additional level of control over who can do what with the
presentation (without having to use password). For more information on the
permissions (information rights management) feature in Office 2003 go to:

Hi John!

Thanks so much for your thoughts on this. I am actually
using PowerPoint 2000. Is there any way to do the same
thing in this version? Thanks.
