Password saving problem with Outlook XP (2002) and Vista Business

I am unable to get Outlook XP (2002) to remember the passwords for my
email
accounts (pop3). The "Remember password" box is checked but it
continues to ask for
them, on all email accounts and in all Vista accounts -- Administrator
and
Limited. Even though I have repeatedly entered the passwords in the
appropriate field, the field will be empty after closing and then
opening
Outlook, and thus asks for the password. Have tried several
solutions
provided for XP on the MS Knowledgebase site but none of them have
solved the
problem. My thoughts are to uninstall Outlook and then re-install (or
maybe even the whole Office 2002 suite. Any other suggestions??
Thanks -- Clive

Try this:
Go to Control Panel and open Administrative Tools
Open Services and find Protected Storage
Open Protected Storage, change the Startup Type to 'Automatic' then
click the 'Start' button under Service Status
Close all those windows and try outlook again.

Ha, Im fresh out of ideas. I was going through this problem last week.
Driving me nuts! I tried everything that I found online. I read
something from a MS KB about protected storage. I remembered about
something in Control Panel about that. I found out that it was turned
off. So turned it on and everything started working again. It all
stopped working after I uninstalled the new Symantec 3Norton 360 beta.
Anyways, I hope it works out for you soon.

Mike -- thanks for your input and honesty. I did install a trial
version of Office 2007 Standard yesterday, and it remembers all the
Outlook passwords with no problem. It's actually a very nice program
-- love the ribbon toolbars, etc. Will continue to pursue a fix and
will post any info that I find. I'm sure with all the new Vista
installs starting today, there will be other people with the same
problem and someone will figure it out!!

Take care -- Clive

I tried this also but no luck. This is very frustrating. Anybody know of a
fix yet?
