Pasting data with commas

N

Nathan Hoover

When I paste data into my Excel spreadsheet from Notepad,
and the data contains commas, it automatically parses the
row into multiple columns, even if I do a Paste Special
as Text. Is there a way to prevent this? I have tried
several different methods or options, and I cannot get it
to stop this parsing. Please help.

Nathan,

Excel used the last set of delimiters that were used in the Text to columns
dialog.

To reset them, do thisrior to pasting. Enter something into a cell (doesn't
matter what). Then use Data | Text to columns.... Delimited and UNcheck
the box next to "Comma" in the delimiter area. Then press OK.

Then do your pasting, and Excel will ignore the commas.
