Patch to read MS Project

I've got MS Office 2007 but not Project. I've received a Project file but
can't open it. Is there a patch I can use to open such files as read-only -
I'll never want to use Project myself so don't want to buy it. Sorry if this
is a much repeated question.

There is no patch available from microsoft. There are a number of third
party viewers. Perhaps your contact can send you a PDF of the file?
