Hi Bill,
As you have guessed, this is not normal behavior. So lets break the slide
apart and check which elements cause the lock-up.
Insert a blank slide immediately before the one that locks up. Transfer one
item at a time to the new slide and run that slide, does it lock? If not
add the next item, until you have either a) identified the problem shape or
b) moved all the items.
If you have identified a problem shape, then try to find out what you can
about the shape. Is there a huge sound file attached to the animation? Is
it simple to delete and re-insert?
If all the items are moved and the problem goes away, than delete the now
empty slide and try again. You may benefit from round tripping thru HTML,
since this tends to remove minor corruption from a presentation file.
Post back if this simple test does not resolve the problem. Please also
include your version of PowerPoint and what service packs have been
installed.
