Patch

Hi,

i was wondering if it was all possible to convert a PDF file into a Pub
file. it was originally a gif. then i converted it a PDF and now i want to
be able to view it in pub so i can edit features.

if this is not possible is it possible to go from the gif file and convert
that to a pub file?

thanks for your help - any suggestions would be helpful ta

Thanks Mary, will check it out

Note that that will not make the file editable, it will have the same
effect as simply importing the GIF file in Publisher.

You cannot easily go from a raster picture file back to the original
content. You could try using an OCR program, but the results will depend
on the resolution of your GIF file in particular.

ScanSoft's PDF converter can do it but the results are really iffy - as
in you might as well start from scratch.

Can it do it even if the PDF is only an embedded image, rather than a
full page description?

I don't know. I only did it a couple of times with Publisher because the
results were really crappy. I have it installed now (haven't actually tried
it on Vista with Office 2007 yet) so if you know of a file, let me know,
I'll see what happens.
