Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

I changed one cell with the format/style. but it changed just one cell. I want to make it a default for all worksheets, and i don't know how to do it in the preferences menu.

I'm afraid your request is unclear - Why would you want to change the
default formatting for *all* cells in *all* sheets of *all* new workbooks to
% formatting of any type? I really don't think that's what you want, but
that's the impression I get from your message.

Please provide a more accurate description of what you want to accomplish.

am also having the same problem. when i click the % button it shows my numbers as 10. rather than 10% for example

How can you say you're having the "same problem" when the problem stated by
the OP is totally unclear? You also provide absolutely no information re OS
version, Office version or anything else.

Just as a guess: you need to either a) type the value as .1 & apply percent
formatting OR b) just type the value as 10% - if this isn't the answer...

Please submit a NEW message & provide complete details as well as a full
description of your problem.

My question is : when I type 10% it shows 10.
When I type 0,1 and change the number to percent style it shows 10.

How to solve this?

Thanks

Choose Format/Style, Style name: Percent. Verify that the Number format
is correct, or change it if it isn't.

The fact that you have the style set to Percent, and that you type 10%
and it shows 10 (without the percent sign) means that something's been
changed with the style.

I have the same problem here.

I have never used the Excel, and then, I needed to open it and type: 56%. I just wanted Excel to show that number like that. Instead, Excel shows: 0,56.

Then, I changed the style of the cell to PERCENT (%), and Excel shows: 5600.

Then, I went to Style window, and there's no way to change the way that all the percentages are shown. And at the bottom of the same window, there`s a phrase that says: "It shows the number with a persentage symbol", BUT IT DOESN'T. :eyeroll:

Does someone knows why Excel for Mac doesn't show percentage as ##% but: ##,## or ####. ???????????? How to change that?

It seems there is a problem with the Portuguese Locations in Leopard (or maybe even other international locations) with the new SP1 update. Several posts on the forum complaining about that. In my casel, I have problems with the % formating and currency (Euro) formating. If I change the location to USA (in Leopard Configuration) everything is fine, changing back to Portugal makes the problem reappear. I had some of these problems in the first version of Office, corrected with the first update and now, back again with the SP1.

Configuration: Macbook Pro 2,2ghz, Leopard, Excel 12.1.0, Portugal Location

Make sure you've reported this via Help/Send Feedback...

That's a more reliable way to ensure that the info gets to those who can
help, as opposed to those of us on the newsgroup, who are (mostly)
fellow users.

Thanks for the report Antonio!
You are correct in saying that this got broken in the latest update, I've
escalated the issue, I can understand your pain here as it is something
effects many users.

Well, that's the *last* time I'll suggest that Help/Send Feedback is
more effective than posting here...

Another thing that has been "discorrected" with the last update is the ability to choose the zoom percentage from the pop-up menu in the toolbar. You can choose it but it won't change the view.

This was also corrected on the last update and now it's back...

Can you please give me more details of this problem? This works fine for me
in 12.1. Are you saying that if you launch Excel, then immediately drop the
dropdown on the Zoom menu on the Standard toolbar the window doesn't zoom?

Thanks,

Pat

C

CyberTaz

Sorry, Antonio, but I'm not seeing this here in Office 12.1, OS X 10.5.0
(not using Spaces). I can zoom to any level from 10% to 400% with no
problem.

If you're experiencing something different please submit as a new message
including all OS & Office particulars as well as system description. This
thread started off more than 2 months ago on a completely unrelated subject
(percentage formatting of cells) 7 has gone through enough deviations that
most responders probably don't even bother to read it any longer:)

A new message will draw the attention you need to get the issue resolved.
I'd also suggest that you use Help> Send Feedback to document your concern
in the MS database where it will more certainly draw the attention of those
who matter most if a fix iis required.

Yes this is pretty much the same issue, we are working on a resolution for
it.

I understand what Antonio is seeing, when setting the International
preferences to a non US locale and launch Excel.
Then select percentage from the formatting palette and type a number into a
cell it gets changed to a '.' instead of the percentage sign.

Antonio had reported this issue when changing the percentage formatting from
the Format Cells dialog.

Unfortunately, these issues aren't solved on the last update released today... It's hard to understand why, since any of these issues didn't exist before on the product release, so they should be easily solved. Microsoft should consider that most of us, international users, need Excel for work and these things take a lot of productivity.
