PERT analysis toolbar missing from MS Project 2003

Derek

I've been struggling to get the PERT analysis toolbar to show.
According to the help file, this should be easily selectable: "On the
View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click PERT Analysis."
However, the toolbar is missing.

Solution 1: Delete profile as per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329856. I
didn't do this.

Solution 2: Find and delete all global.mpt files on C: and your
network drive (if your profile is stored on the network). This forces
Project to recreate a new global mpt file. See
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/project98/reskit/011.mspx
I did this, but it was ineffective.

Solution 3: Delete the COM Add-Ins for PERT and then reconnect it.
This worked. Here is how I did it:

Open MS Project 2003
<menu> tools/customise/toolbars
<select> commands tab
<select> tools category
<select> commands COM add- ins...
<drag to anywhere on toolbar>
<select> close

Now run the COM Add-Ins off the toolbar, delete the old PERT add-in,
and reattach it afresh:
<toolbar select> COMS Add-ins
<select> PERT analysis
<select> remove
<select> add
<browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11>
<select file> PERTANL.DLL
Return to COM Add-ins
<check> Pert analysis

Shutdown MS project
Restart MS project

Activate the toolbar
<menu> view/toolbars/PERT

PERT toolbar now visible!

But can anyone tell me why this worked and what went wrong in the
first place?

hi Derek,

On the menu bar click VIEW > TOOLBARS and select Analysis. The PERT Analysis
button will appear on your menu. On the PERT Analysis toolbar, click PERT
Entry Sheet.

Regards,

Haris
