Pet peeve with Word restoring 2nd word doc when open new word doc

When I have one or more word docs already open but minimized and I open a
new word doc, then one of the other word docs also restores to it's previous
size. Is there any way to turn this behaviour off???
This happens for me in word 2003 and word 2007.

Does anyone else have this problem or consider this an irritation? Costs me
a lot of extra keystrokes.
