Photo issues

I am having a problem that is really getting aggrevating,
and hope to find an answer here. I create return address
labels using preset Avery templates in Publisher. Two
questions:

1. When I look in the print screen, I can't find the
option to print just one label. Where is it located? I
know if I set up my own template, I can choose to print
just one, but when I choose the Avery, it's not
available. It is print a whole sheet, or nothing, which
isn't very good if there are any mistakes, which leads me
to question 2...

2. My photos are not holding on the label. What I mean
is that it looks correct on screen, and in print preview,
but when the labels print, I only get the top right
quarter of the picture. I can't figure out why this
happens.

I am using Publisher 2000, running on a Windows 98
machine. Any help would be appreciated.

If you can print labels by creating your own template instead of relying on
a premade template, that would be the best way. Unfortunately, most people
can't even figure out something that simple. All you really need to do is to
make a table the same size as the label area on the sheet and center it so
there are correct margins all around. Don't make the table to reach from
edge to edge - only to the outer dimensions of the actual labels. Specify
the same number of rows and columns as you have labels. You can then use any
cell to print an individual label. As far the photo problem, you may be
giving too much data to the printer to handle. Is it a laser or inkjet?
Simply resizing a photo in Publisher to reduce the print size doesn't do
anything for the file size. Try editing the photo in PhotoShop or some other
graphics editor and resize it down to approximately the actual print size
and then use the reduced size copy.
