%PHYSICAL COMPLETE - SHOW ON GANTT TASK BAR

J

John Boy

I wish to show % physical complete on task bar (as a thermometer and
text)instead of the default % complete. Have tried various methods eg Gantt
wizard, views etc with no success. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Recommend you copy either your Gantt View or your Tracking Gantt View, then
make changes as follow:

1) Double click on the Gantt Chart (not table), choose the Text tab, and
indicate Physical % Complete wherever on the bar you would like it.

2) In the same place, under the Bar tab, change the Progress bar formatting
to read From Actual Start; To Physical % Complete (from CompleteThrough)

Andrew's suggestions produce the desired graphic but I'd suggest you be VERY
careful about using it as it could be very misleading. The length of the
Gantt chart bar corresponds to duration. % Complete is based on the
duration actually worked so far. But % Physical Complete is an estimate of
the amount of the deliverable that has been completed and is only roughly
related to duration, if it's even related at all. It is perfectly possible
to have used up 90% of the total duration the task will take and still be
only 10% Physical Complete, for example, in the case of a task where
everything comes together at the very last minute. By graphing duration and
physical complete as a direct comparison with each other on the Gantt chart,
you're comparing apples and organges, generally not a very good idea.
