picking up old mail from a popserver

I am moving from a Groupwise office which has popserver access to mail and
want to use outlook to 'pop' in to collect all my mail from the server.
However it only seems to pick up the recent mail. Even though the earlier
mails have been marked as unread on the server.

Is there a setting on the outlook client which will force it to pick up all
unread mail on a server
