Picture - Fading Out

K

Keir

I'm attempting to get a picture to print with a fade-out effect, i.e. place a
rectangle over it, set fill colours/gradient/transparency from 100% to 0%.
Every time I do this, though, it prints out (hard copy and PDF) as a solid
colour with no transparency.

Does anyone have any advice?

TIA...Keir

Which version of Publisher are you using? Have you tried using the Picture
Washout Effect?

Hi, Brian.

Thanks for the reply.

1. I'm using Publisher 2004 - sorry about leaving that out in the first
post.
2. Never heard of the Picture Washout Effect. Will search for it and check
it out.

Thanks again...Keir

I will assume you are using Publisher 2003 as Publisher 2004 doesn't exist.

Right click on your picture, go to Format Picture > Picture Tab > Image
Control > WashOut

Oh I see. Well, going back to your original post then, you will need to do
EXACTLY as you have done, however, before you print, you need to group your
objects together, the after you group them, select the new grouped object,
go to Edit > Copy then Edit > Paste Special and paste as a Picture. Then
print.

The problem you have found is a known bug in all of the Office products that
use this same drawing feature.

Hi, Brian.

Many, many thanks - your suggestion worked a charm. FYI, it only worked when
pasting special as a JPG file.

Again, thankyou.

Regards...Keir
