Picture insert tutorial 101

So, I'm probably the last person on earth to learn this, but I'm baffled by
inserting pictures in Word documents and then saving them in html to use on a
simple web site.

I receive a Word page with a logo inserted in it. I save it (the original)
and then save again as an html page. I then ftp it into a web site with a
link to the document. When I hit the link, the picture isn't resolved. The
logo is on the web site, so I go back and re-insert the picture, this time
using a file from the web data (on my PC) and re-do the save in html,
republish, but the problem persists.

What am I missing?

I've also found that there are some web pages (I inherited the site) that
have the logo on them, but their "linked" to a folder that I didn't think was
necessary to load on the site to resolve the picture. I was trying to reduce
the number of copies of the logo on the web site by having the documents all
have an insert from one, but that doesn't seem to be working also.

Thanks

Tom

This is why I abandoned Word for Web pages and went to FrontPage instead.
Word refuses to insert relative links for pictures; the links are not fouled
up when you save, but when you reopen the document (regardless of what
settings you have regarding updating links), they are updated to be
absolute. The only workaround is to insert links to the pictures on the Web
server (BTW, you do need to upload the separate graphics folder along with
the Web page) rather than the ones on your HD. This means that you won't be
able to view the pictures in your document unless you're connected to the
Internet, but it will be better than having all the rest of the world unable
to see the pictures on your Web page because it's referencing your HD!
