Please Help with Database Connection

Chris

Hi I have my .mdb on a web server and in FrontPage I am trying to connect to
it so I can create my forms. First, is there anything I need to check on the
server itself as far as ODBC drivers, etc.. to allow Frontpage to connect?
Second I am following FrontPage's instructions to connect by - Database
Connections > Add a Catalog > Configure Database Connection > Server Name
(this is a bit confusing) because my server name is //srvwch16/d$, am I
missing something here? Then Username and Password and when I click next and
I get this huge error message stating that "an error occured while retrieving
a list of Databases. An authentication error occured, Your logon....."

Any ideas, I really need to get this working?

Thanks, Chris A

Import the database into FP, create a connection name and let FP move it to the fpdb folder.

Just drag-n-drop the database into your current open FP web.

Is there a way I can test this on my local machine? Do I need to have IIS
installed? I have tried this by copying the .mdb file to my local harddrive
and importing it but I continue to get this permissions dialog box stating
that I do not have permissions. Now why would it way that on my own computer?

Thomas, I am not 100% familiar with how FP works so what do you mean by
"current open FP web"?

You have to have IIS and the FP extensions installed and then create/access the site via
http://localhost

File Menu | Open web / site

Do this first, whenever you need to work on your web content.

Ok, I fianlly made the site open up, I am now looking at my local site on the
left and the Remote on the right. I got that far, but what about connecting
FrontPage to my database so I can start creating my forms and linking my
boxes to the table? Are there any certain server permissions I need, etc..?

Once you have the database imported, then you create your form, then under form properties you
select to connect to the database using the connection you created when you imported the database.

I'm starting to give up.

When I open up Access, there is no import option available, where would I
find this? And then what do you mean by "Form" properties?

Not Access, FP. On the web, you do not use Access, just the database.

You have to create the form in FP, and then connect it to your database
