I have a microsoft word file that is protected, when i try to un-protect the
file i get asked for a password. I dont have this password yet i need to be
able to use this file.

The password was set by a person who has now left my place of work

I use Office XP SP3

so if anyone could assist me i would be grateful!

Thanks (in advance)

Your best option is to contact the person who applied the password. There
are probably legal means by which you can force that person to provide it.
Failing that, you can search Google for password crack and try one of the
hits that you will turn up (that is if you are happy giving your credit card
details to someone who cracks passwords for a living).
