Please make the lighnining bolt go away! I don't want it's help

[this is M S's suggestion dpt.?]

I want word to do as it is told. I don't want it to try and anticip[ate my
needs. If I want a numbered list I'll type a nimbered list. It's not worth
the trouble of this thing allways doing stuff I didn't tell it to do. Give
me a typewriter that can spell. Give me a blank peace of paper and let me
type on it, only what I type and only where I type. I want a copy of word
version 1.

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
In the AutoCorrect dialog box, select the AutoCorrect tab.
Clear the Show AutoCorrect Options buttons check box.

Problem solved.

You and many others! Until then, I'm assuming by Lightning Bolt you mean
the Office Assistant that comes up to annoy - uh, "help" - you. The next
time you see it, right-click on it - there should be an option box that says
"Use Office Assistant" - clear the check mark.
