I an scanning magazine in Portrate mode, (Text and
Pictures)can i size the Slide window in PowerPoint 2002,
to Portrate View only it stretches so it looks wide.

Size the PPT slide before inserting the image. If you've already inserted the image, you can try cutting the image, then resizing the page, then pasting the image.

As Michael explained, the slide size setup is under File/Page Setup.
