Possible Bug??

I come across a weird bug. When I create a hyperlink in a word document and
set the target frame to new window, it works perfectly. However, when I open
the same document (in word format) from a website, it opens in Internet
explorer, which is fine. When I then click on the hyperlink, it loads the
hyperlinked document into the current browser window instead of a new window.

Why is this happening??

What version of Word are you using and do you have
an URL for a webpage where you're seeing this?

I am using Word 2003.

Here a test link.

http://www.ponder.ca/test1.doc

This open a word document with 1 link to test2.doc. It should open
test2.doc in a new window in the browser(as it opens a new word doc in word)

But it doesn't.

Hi Liam,

Since the document doesn't appear on your webpage I
tried clicking on the link in the message here and
opening the file and from the address line in Internet
Explorer. Both those choices open Word (2003) with
the document. Using the hyperlink in the 1st Word document
opens a new Word document window to hold the 2nd one.

Whether it opens in Word or the browser can depend on
how the 'opens with' file associations are set in
Windows Explorer by the person visiting your site
(also if the visitor has Word, or the Word viewer, for example).
