Power Point 97, registered converter problem

I'm receiving a error message that states "No registered
converter found and may need to be reistalled"

I'm only receiving this message on two of the power point
presentations I've previously made. Can anyone help?

Or this there another way to open these files? they are
saved as ppt, not pps

I can't find anything on this error in PPT. What are you trying to do
when you receive this message?

These presentations were created in PPT 97, correct? What's in them?

If you use Insert/Slides/From File, will the slides insert into a new
PPT file?

I'm receiving an error message "No registered converter found and may need to be reinstalled" This message is on the last two presentations I made. I cannot open these presentations.
I have tried to remove, and reinstall entire office 97 program, getting message "cannot open powerpoint.exe file"
What can I do?
