what exactly do you want to do? Which version of PowerPoint do you use?

PowerPoint has many options to change the order of animations and the newer
versions offer trigger animations which make you independent of any
timeline. But your question is posed so widely, that it is hard to give you
an exact answer.

Ute,

I am using PP 2002. I have created a PP presentation and would like to be
able to select bullets on each slide in any order i.e. in a series of 1, 2,
3, I would like to select those numbers to be displayed in any order. As it
currently is setup, I have no option but to select each bullet in the order
it was typed onto the slide. I hope this is more informative.

You'll need to set trigger animations on each of the bulleted texts.

I don't know of a tutorial for this specifically, but

explains individual bulleted text animation (I suspect you already know this
part) and http://www.echosvoice.com/triggers.htm is a quickie on trigger
animations.
