I am very new to power point. Can anyone tell me how I can add slides
(picture) from a cd that I just purchased into a powerpoint presentation that
I have to give? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean that you purchased a CD of, for example, royalty free photos and you
want to use one for a background? Or do you just want to insert them on slides?

What is the file format of these images? Are they JPGs? Save the one that you
want to your hard drive and then use Insert > Picture > Picture from File.
