powerpoint 2000 on xp system freezes on 2nd monitor

When I use powerpoint on a large screen for a presentation, about half way
through it will freeze on the large screen, yet will continue to change on my
laptop. I have to exit out, and open again and start all over, then advance
to where I left off. Why does this happen.

Check to see if there is a driver update for your video card and make
certain you have DirectX 9c installed on your PC.

Thanks for your answer. I will check for the drive right away, but what is -
DirectX9c? I am not familiar with that.
