PowerPoint 2003 - not compatible with old files

All of my design templates, even ones I just downloaded
or installed, have a .pot extension and won't open with
my power point. However, this problem also occurs with
previous .doc documents even though they do have the
correct extension. Any suggestions? Because microsoft
wants me to have to pay to find out why their new
software sucks.

How are you trying to open the POT files? If you open PowerPoint and then
go to File > Open and search for the file, it should open just fine. If it
doesn't, can you tell us what happens? Do you get a message?

DOC files will open in Word. Are you trying to open them with PowerPoint?
That won't work and isn't intended to work.
