powerpoint 2007 inserting an avi file

I'm trying to insert a movie file, or AVI File into powerpoint, nothing too
long just a brief clip. I can insert the clip and see the picture of it in a
still frame but when I go to preview the presentation it shows the first shot
than the screen where the movie is supposed to be playing goes black, but you
can still hear the sound.
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong.

It could be a codec problem. Make sure your media player is up to date.
