PowerPoint Chart

I am trying to insert a chart. When I do, a Microsoft
message appears indicated that "Microsoft PowerPoint has
encountered a problem and needs to close." I have
reinstalled Office XP on my system but to no avail. I
still get the same message. What could be going on?
