Powerpoint loses hyperlinks

I have created a large presentation that has many hyperlinks embedded within
it. I edit all of the hyperlinks one day so that they all function
correctly. However, once I close the presentation, it seems like they are
not all saved correctly. The file size of the document shrinks and when I
reopen the presentation, some of the hyperlinks no longer function (and some
of them do)... Any thoughts??
