Dear john Wilson,
No i'm affraid the memory stick doesn't have a switch on the side.
Do you know how to take a folder or presentation off "read only"?

Are you transfering the file from a CD? Are you accidentally trying to save
to the wrong drive (the one that contains the CD and not the jump drive)?
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but it happens...

Also, is the file you're trying to save Password protected?

Hi Sandy,

I am trying to transfer a Powerpoint presentation from my PC on to a
portable memory stick. However, every time I try to click and drag the
presentation to the USB folder, it tells me that I cannot transfer because
the file is 'Read Only'.

Are you able to help me please?

Hi Sandy,

I am trying to transfer a powerpoint presentation from my PC on to a
portable USB memory stick. But every time I try to move and copy the
presentation, it says 'Cannot move - Read only file'.

I have gone inton Properties and changed the settings off 'read only' or
'hidden' but without success.

Can you help me please?

I did a little research on this. A new article in PC World says that his
seems to happen often and is supposedly caused by "a failure with the chip
set on the flash drive that controls the connect..." The author of the
article says you should ask the manufacturer (this article was about Memorex)
to replace your drive.
