I have PP reader. When I open a .pps attachment to an email, PP doesn't open
and I can't see the attach. Would welcome any help.

Hi "Zammer",

Try saving it to your desktop and opening it from there........... Just a
thought.

Good Luck.

Thanks, Andy. Sorry to say it didn't work. When I click on a .pps attach I
get Windows Cannot Open This File and am asked to fgind the program that
created it. PowerPoint is not among the choices.

Even if PowerPoint (or the Viewer) is not among the choices, you can browse
for a program and choose it.

None of the programs listed in BROWSE will open the attachments, even though
they're pps.

I may not have been clear. An email has an attch, for ex: "fantastick.pps" I
click on "fantastick.pps" and get the Windows cannot open...box.

Steve. That works, thanks. But it is not the solution I'm seeking. Until a
few week or so ago, PP automatically opened pps attachments to emails. Then
the problem I described began. Ireinstalled PP, twice. I eliminated that it
might be another program causing it by disabling all services and startups. I
used MSNmail Premium, and it seems to be OK. As PP opened it the way you
described, could the cause be lack of hookup between PP and the attchment on
the email?

Steve. I use only that one program, and no one else uses the computer.
Attachments are scanned for viruses by two programs before they're allowed in
the email. I agree that raw attachments are like minefields. Thanks for your
help.

What happens when you double-click a saved PPS on the desktop opposed to
clicking it in an email?

I get the same Windows Cannot Open This File I do when I click the attach
when it's on the email.

Correct. I've reinstalled the viewer a few times. Will try the link on
changing file associations. Hope it's not beyond my meager abilities. Will
post results. Thanks for your interest.

Thank you for that compliment!!
I have powerpoint 2007.
When I go into 'start'-'programmes'-micosoft office'- powerpoint and click I
can open the program no trouble.
When I get an email with a pps attachment I usually click on it, double
click on the attachment and it opens. Not now. It comes up with the icon of
another program. Like quick time player or media centre or whichever I choose
.....
I try to R click and browse for powerpoint but it is nowhere to be found. I
have searched through all files and found microsoft office but even in that
list no Powerpoint.
I have never been stumped like this before. I am self taught so have
reached my limits I think. Please help if you can. KR

Michael Good news... I have been able (on 3rd attempt) to download the pps
viewer and have made a small step for mankind! Not quite there yet though.
When i open the attachment now, I click on it, and on being asked if I want
to run it I click yes, than a window opens headed 'open' with and a list of
recommended programs appears. (including the Microsoft Office Powerpoint
Viewer which I click to open the attachment yippie!)
How do I delete the 3 other programmes that are on this list? Rclick does
not do anything....I though this might delete them.

Not that there is a huge need for this Just some extra clicking, but being a
perfectionist I would like to be able to bring it all beck to how it was. At
least I can sleep tonight.
