If it always opens as a slideshow, then the filename probably has a .pps
extension. If you rename the file, changing the .pps to .ppt (using Windows
Explorer), it will open as a normal Powerpoint presentation file that you can
edit.
If you open PowerPoint, then from the File open navigate to the presentation
file, and open it. It will open in the edit mode rather than the slideshow mode.

How do I make modifications to a presentation that always opens up as a
slideshow? eg add more pictures or different sound etc.
