presentation not running right

I created a slide show on a computer running windows ME
with powerpoint 2002 installed. I did the pack and go to
run it from a computer with windows 98 that does not have
powerpoint installed. I did install the powerpoint97
viewer during the pack and go wizard. The effects are not
doing what they are suppose to do. I also tried it on a
computer running windows 2000 and had the same problem. I
tried adjusting the hardware accelerator. I also checked
the harware acclerator box in the slide show options in
power point on the machine I created the presentation on.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help.

You have PowerPoint 2002. PowerPoint 2002 is newer and has new functions,
animations and transitions. Older versions don't support them. The old
Viewer doesn't support them. There is a new Viewer which will play them
correctly, but it doesn't run on Windows 98 (unless it's 98SE). The new
Viewer can be downloaded from

What do you mean by "the effects are not doing what they are supposed to
do"? Are you talking about animation. PowerPoint 2002 and above have a
lot of new animation effects. The problem is that they don't work in
PowerPoint 2000 and below (inlcuding the 97 viewer). You'll need the
2003 Viewer.
