Presenting a project

T

Thorbjorn Sundboe

Hi,

I am trying to find a good way to present a project plan to people that do
not have access to Project; both for distribution by email and in a
presentation setting. I have been playing around with views, exported to
html, made screenshots and put in Powerpoint etc., but really haven't found
a good and effective format to present a plan in. Typically I want to
present a Gantt and expanded/collapsed tasks.

Would appreciate any tips on the best way to do this using Powerpoint or a
browser or another tool as the presentation tool.

Cheers, Thorbjorn

We ordinarily distribute reports by printing them to PDF files. There are
many PDF writers available, some free. Of course the standard is Adobe
Acrobat.

There is a companion product that works with MS Project, actually it allows
import from Project. There are viewers as well. Both can be found here:
http://project.mvps.org/ and select "Companion Products" on the left margin.

The one I use is http://www.kidasa.com and the product is called Milestones
Professional 2006. This product allows you to import .mpp files and then
export them to HTML format with drill downs and the like. It is truly a
great product for that purpose. They have a free 30 day download.

This will allow you to publish you files to a website (acutallly any network
folder) and others can view the files just like they would on the internet.

Thanks for these sources, lots of valuable stuff there! I am starting out
with the MS add-on. FYI, in the meantime I found this one:

But as you can see in microsoft.public.powerpoint, there are some issues...

Thanks again, Thorbjorn

Satheesh,

Your app looks interesting considering Microsoft felt fit to drop .html
generation from Project 2007.

I gave it a shot using my XP Pro/IE7/Project 2007 system. The utility
complains alot about various script errors and generates a one page document
that has only the project title at the top. No other information is printed.

Let us know if you get bored on your next vacation ;-)
