PrimoPDF

PatJennings

I know that this may be a little off topic, but found the PrimoPDF facility
through this newsgroup. Can anyone (Mary, JoAnn, Ed - others) tell me if
there is a way to "merge" various PrimoPDF print files into one file?
Thanks, Pat

Nope. You either need Acrobat or a friend with Acrobat to do that for you.

Actually, I think PDF-Tools can do it. Rather cheaper than Acrobat, but
still costs money. Available at the same place as PDF-XChange -

Thanks All,
..
The project I am facing will be ongoing for awhile. Thanks JoAnn for your
offer. And thanks Ed and Don for your advice. I plan to try PDF Tools and
then perhaps XChange.

PDF-Tools is a great program to split up pages, join pages, extract images
& text, and other manipulations of pdf files.
And it works well with any pdf files no matter which pdf program created
them. Less than $30.00.

If you are drawn to getting PDF-Tools look closely at PDF-XChange at the
same time for the Pro version (XChange and Tools together - $70). XChange
has some real benefits not found in the no cost pdf creating programs.
Links and e-mail addresses are clickable in the pdf files and there is
more. See the "Read More" under the product and note the comparison chart.

As for the free PDF XChange Viewer (reader) program, it's in its infancy
and going through growing pains; unless you want contribute to the
development of it, best to stay with Adobe Reader version 8.0 at this
time, even though it's 20 - 30 mb or Foxit Reader, +/- 2 mb.

Off the soap box - back to visiting. :)

or if you got the bucks for it...Acrobat 8 is awesome.

Well, here is what happened:
I have a legacy program that prints only to the default printer. There is
no way that I can intervene and select a different printer before sending
the file to print. So, I set the default printer to PrimoPDF. Rather than
sending all pages to the printer, each PDF is sent individually. I saved
the pages in PDF format, numbering them one through ten.

I downloaded the trial version of PDFTools and set about bringing all ten
pages into it so that I would have one PDF file encompassing all ten pages.
It did that, however, all formatting that was inherent in the individual
pages was lost. The file consisted of some "text" pages and some
"number-format" pages. The numbers all flowed together, losing their column
formatting. Similarly, the word (test) pages lost formatting as well.

I resent the term archaic. It's an older system but it still works. Sure I'd
like a new system, and I even have a touch of Vista fever, but between 5
months of unemployment last year and ~$1500 in car repairs last month, a new
computer is not high on the list of priorities. And we won't mention Summit,
which is still iffy.
