Print action button

I want to create a custom action button that will let the viewer print the
current slide. Can it be done? If so, how? I'm using PP2003.

I believe you will need to use VBA to do this. It's not hard, but it
requires VBA, meaning users will have to have the full version of
PowerPoint and not the Viewer, and they will have to have macro security
set to medium or low.

Hi Joyce,
THis is round about way of doing it , but I wanted to do a similar thing. I
wanted to print an information sheet from within PPT pres playing in 2003
viewer using buttons .
1. Save your current slide as a jpeg ( In your case you wanted the exact
slide contents)
2 Paste that jpeg into a word doc page eg test.doc
3. Check out a prog on Sonias website called Launch.exe at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/autorun_launch.htm which is
freeware to download

4. create a button like you wanted
5. click on action settings
6. click on run program and type in' launch.exe print test.doc '
7 . thats it - works like a charm - will automatically load up the word doc
, print , then close it again from within the presentation.

If youre using 2003 viewer - it wont let you run program (6) above - so need
to create a hyperlink to a dos batch file eg test.bat with code from (6)
above in it ( I had to do a similar thing)
I did a quick test for you using this method and it works well
Let me know how you get on and if you need more help !
Charles
