Printing 11 x 17" on 8.5 x 11"

Heather

I have designed a newsletter in the regular 11 x 17"
format. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to
print on that size paper here and need to print on regular
letter size. The pages are set up that way, but I cannot
figure out how to break them down to print. When I send it
to print and load 8.5 x 11" paper, it prints the entire
two page spread per page, so the newsletter comes out a
tiny size. I do not have a 'shrink to fit' option or
anything like that on the screen. Much appreciation to
anyone who can help!

No, it's set to print on 8.5 x 11" even though the
document itself is laid out in 11 x 17. The problem is the
printer treats the layout as if it's a spread, and prints
both pages on one sheet of paper so when you fold it, it's
only 5.5 x 8", a small brochure. If I go in and manually
change the page set up, it ruins the whole document.

If you have an HP printer for example, the Printer Driver would have a
feature similar to ZoomSmart which will reduce the page size from 11 x 17 to
8½ x 11 when you print it. Does your printer driver have such an option? Go
to File > Print > Properties.

Right, so you want to print page 1 on one side, page 2 on another side, and
page 3 on another side etc.
I will bet any money that you have the document set up as a "Booklet" (or
Book Fold). This means that Publisher automatically lays out your
publication on the paper ready to be folded.
You need to change the page size in File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper
(this may differ depending on your version of Publisher) to 8½ x 11", and
then set the page size in Page Setup > Layout to Full Page.
You may need to re-lay out your document, due to a change in size.

I pretty much just have to go in and resize every page. It
set it up in a different page size, and even I go in and
take it out of Book Fold, it's messed up. Thanks for the
help anyway!
