Hi. In Microsoft Word 2000, I clicked on Insert, Picture, then Chart.
After entering the data, and creating my graph, I want to print the
datasheet (mini-spreadsheet) and the chart on the same piece of paper. How
(is it even possible) for me to do that? I know you can print the data
table under chart options, but I want to position the datasheet so I can
leave some space between the chart and it.

Make the chart in Excel. Format the data cells as you'd like them to
look, position the chart, etc. Select the worksheet area behind the
chart and the data, and copy it to the clipboard. Go to Word. Under
the Edit menu, choose Paste Special. Choose Microsoft Excel Worksheet
Object and click OK.

You can also experiment with the other Paste Special formats, to see
if one of them works better for your purposes. (My favorite method is
to select the chart and data, hold down the Shift key and go to Edit >
Copy Picture *in Excel*; this gives me options such as "as shown on
screen" vs. "as shown when printed", both of which can be useful,
depending on circumstances. I can then be sure that what I paste into
Word will stay formatted the way I set it. The drawback is that the
inserted picture is not editable.)

Hint: if you don't want Excel's gridlines to show up in your Word
printout, set the background color of the cells to white.
