printing background

I am using the 2000 version and the graphic (fill effect is gray) is not
printing at all as a watermark. I have searched every Publisher Help and
Troubleshooter issue for watermarks in the background, but nothing addresses
this problem I am having. I did check to confirm that my printer has the
latest drivers.

I greatly appreciate any guidance with this dilemma.

Publisher doesn't use Watermarks the way Word will. In Publisher, View,
Background (ctrl+m), put your lightly colored graphic here. I have found if you
use WordArt and select a very light aqua it will print lighter than gray. Be
sure you don't have "ignore background" checked in the view menu.

Mary, I appreciate your prompt response. I do know how to access the
background to place a graphic and "ignore background" is not checked. I am
confused about your suggestion to use WordArt-this feature only allows you to
enter text, not insert a graphic.

I was thinking of something else altogether when I wrote WordArt. A very senior
moment.

Maybe your background graphic is too light to print. What are your printer
settings? Some printers have a best setting, might try this setting... When I
put my laser on draft, nothing really light prints.

Maybe choosing a different color or
maybe a darker color would help.

Maybe you could convert your project
to a .pdf and then print the .pdf.

Try this...

Download and install the following free PDF Creator.

PrimoPDF
http://www.primopdf.com/
(if you only have a few files to convert...you can even
do it online)

With your new program installed...open your project
in Publisher and go to...File / Print.

On your Print screen...open the drop window and
select PrimoPDF as your printer.

Click...OK...now you will see the PrimoPDF screen
and you can browse to a save folder.

When you click...OK...your .pdf file will be created
in your save folder.

Now...open the .pdf file in your reader...Adobe or
Foxit and print it.

Mary & John,

I have tried both of your suggestions, but still the graphic/watermark from
the background is not printing...ugggghhhh. Maybe it is not meant to be for
me to print out this graphic on the invitation I have created. ; }

Did you set the background by placing an object on the Background page,
or by using some kind of Format > Background option (not sure whether
this was in Pub2000 or where it was found)?

I am using Pub2000...the way I placed the graphic (a clip art piece) on the
background was by View > Go to Background, using the Clip Art tool to create
a frame and importing the graphic. Is this procedure what would be called
"set[ting] the background by placing an object on the Background page"?
